i open my eyes to a barren world i am numb to the steel and brick and plastic that surrounds me living feels all too surreal people laugh and cry and fight and scream over trivial things no one is real nothing is real but then i look into your eyes and i see you not you the mask or you the game not you who you think you are but you the child who grew up all to quickly who tried to be strong and in the midst of all your pain you told yourself that’s what it meant to grow up you told yourself to be an adult and a piece of your imagination died and your heart grew colder for it why is winter so cold it isn’t the snow, but our hearts which ice the streets on which we walk i can see your hidden thoughts like a mind reader and i weep i weep because i want you to know that growing up doesn’t mean losing yourself it only means refinding yourself and if the road ever seems too long or the path too unsure remember that i am singing your song the song of you the song where you win when you conquer all fear and nothing else matters because i love you
